Hi! I’m Kassi Sofferman — mom, nonprofit founder, social worker, community volunteer, and now… candidate for Mayor of Moorhead.
What I’m Like Outside of Politics
When I’m not working, you’ll find me:
- Reading (about 40 books a year — fantasy and sci-fi are my go-tos)
- Hiking or wandering outside identifying birds, plants, bugs, and anything my kids discover
- At local parks, coffee shops, or the library
- At the gym
- Volunteering anywhere my friends or community need an extra hand
- Going to hockey games
What I’m Like in My Work
Professionally, I’ve built experience across:
- Policy work
- Disability advocacy
- Child welfare policy
- Parent support
- Family services
- Nonprofit management and community leadership
My work has always centered around families, accessibility, and making systems easier for people to navigate, especially those who feel overlooked or unheard. I’ve partnered with nonprofits, sat in community meetings, helped families through complex school and government systems, and advocated for disability rights, youth needs, and parent supports.
What Matters to Me
I’m running for mayor because I care deeply about Moorhead. I care about the families raising their kids here, the people working hard to build stability, the businesses that make this city vibrant, and the folks who don’t always feel like their voice matters. I want to bring fresh energy, action, compassion, and steady leadership to a community I believe in.
I’ll listen. I’ll show up. And I’ll work hard because building the future of Moorhead is something we do together.
Whether it’s at a park, a coffee shop, the library, or a council meeting. I can’t wait to meet you, hear your ideas, and work together to build the Moorhead our kids deserve.
